Hudson Hill

July 5, 2017

Working from home can be a blessing and a curse. The curse generally happens on lazy days or if you run into some unforeseen issue like your internet is down! Xfinity really doesn’t want me to be great. This was the motivating factor behind my most recent visit to Hudson Hill.

This lovely coffee and cocktail bar is right around the corner from me in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood. I generally despise working out of hectic coffee shops, but Hudson Hill had the opposite effect on me. It was quite a pleasure setting up shop here. So much so I came back the next day and worked there for about 5 hours! I guess you can say I made myself right at home.

I had been to Hudson Hill only once before. It was night time before an event. The vibes are totally different in the daytime. I really loved the different types of seating arrangements. There were spaces better suited for solo visitors. Others sections that lent itself better for groups.

I was quickly greeted and I placed my order. I enjoy a nice hot tea during the day! I also ordered the grilled cheese. Real work requires brainpower. The grilled cheese was tasty. I loved the presentation with the smeared mustard and jelly. Another sweet and savory moment!

After about 4:00 pm the menu switches over to a cocktail list. But don’t worry, you can have a mimosa and other adult beverage throughout the afternoon as well. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this great space. Sometimes you need a little getaway. It’s the little things that count. Hudson Hill is definitely giving me all the positive vibes I need. Thank you for coming through in the clutch!
