Blackbird Public House

October 31, 2017

The Washington Park neighborhood is home to some of Denver’s brightest hidden food gems. Blackbird Social House is absolutely one place that I feel lucky to have stumbled upon. This local eatery is serving up a variety of American classics. We were able to hit all the major touchpoint during their brunch service.

First, the energy in the dining room was amazing! College football was in full swing. There were tables full of enthusiastic fans. This adds to the community feel of this place. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Our server promptly walked us through the menu. It was brunch, so mimosas are a must! For starters, we ordered the Breakfast Brussels and the Meat & Cheese Board. The charcuterie board was pretty standard. Nice portion sizes for a group of 3 or 4. I loved the housemade mozzarella. The Brussel sprouts were divine! They had a sweet, salty and nutty flavor profile. The egg was perfectly cooked. It added a creamy smoothness to the dish.

BREAKFAST BRUSSELS: pecans, cranberries, choice of egg, bacon

THE FOREST: garlic and olive oil, mozzarella, pecorino, rosemary, sautéed mushrooms, thyme, roasted garlic, parmesan, melted leeks

MEAT & CHEESE BOARD: 3 cheeses, 2 meats* & accoutrements

PUBLIC HOUSE BURGER: candied bacon, cheddar, rosemary aioli, tomato, pickled vegetables, fries

SMOKED SALMON BENEDICT: sliced and stacked smoked salmon*, tomato, poached egg*, hollandaise sauce, English muffin, potatoes

MAC N CHEESE

The highlight of this meal was The Forest Pizza! I could eat one of these every week. Talk about packing some bold flavors into a perfectly baked pie, yum! Standout ingredients were the roasted garlic and melted leeks. They totally made the dish. The Public House Burger and Smoked Salmon Benedict were both solid choices. This burger,  paired with one of their many beers, is a wonderful game time meal.

Add dining Blackbird Public House to your dining to-do list! Not only is their brunch amazing, but they have food and drink specials daily. If I lived in Wash Park, I would dine here constantly. For all you sports fans, who are looking for a great spot with good energy and even better food, Blackbird is for you! The dining room is large enough to accommodate large parties, as well as individuals. Last, but not least, I really appreciated the amazing service we received from the entire staff. This takes an already great experience to a whole other level. Looking forward to a return trip to Blackbird Public House sooner than later.
