Adelitas Cocina Y Cantina

November 30, 2017

Adelitas Cocina Y Cantina has been on my to-do list for about two years. I’ve always been told about their insane Taco Tuesdays. There has been a few occasion where I’ve attempted to dine in but the place was packed! This is a good problem to have. We scheduled a Thursday night reservation, in hopes that we would have an opportunity to finally try Adelitas out. Though it was busy, we were able to get seated quickly. There was a vibrant energy in the building.

Their menu hosts a variety of traditional Mexican food items and a few with a nontraditional approach. This is one of those places where you really can’t go wrong with anything you order. All I knew was that I was going to take this opportunity to try out some of those famed tacos!

First, let’s talk about these margaritas! You know things are off to a good start when the house marg is on point. For appetizers, we started with the Chips & Salsa Flight. It comes with house red, tomatillo and avocado salsa. One of the aspects I really loved about Adelitas, was the ability to choose what kind of sauce and salsas suited your need. Most restaurants have standard offerings that are left out of your control. This basic feature can ensure that whatever dish you order will appeal to your taste buds.

Enchiladas Suizas: Three corn tortillas filled with your choice of pollo, carne asada, carnitas, or Monterey jack cheese. Smothered with any of our four sauces

Chile Rellenos: Battered and fried poblano chiles stuffed with your choice of Monterey jack cheese or sautéed portobello mushrooms, then smothered with any of our four sauces

Tacos: Chicken and carne asada

Our main course was a perfect balance of flavor and portion. Another positive about the menu, diners can order almost anything a la carte. So along with our main dishes, we order a few tacos. They definitely held up to the hype! There is no doubt in my mind that these tacos were worth the two-year wait. I got my melty cheese fix with the cheese enchiladas. The dish was simple and executed well. I cleared the plate. The chile rellenos were prepared vegetarian style. Adelitas has a number of dishes that meet dietary needs.

The meal at Adelitas Cocina Y Cantina made my week! It had been a long while since I had some fire tacos and a good marg. It was much needed. Great food, stellar service, and awesome company! I can’t think of anything that would have made the evening better. Adelitas is a must if you are in the Denver area and looking for high-quality Mexican food. I’m a fan of any restaurant that is serving up great food at great prices. Taco Tuesday isn’t the only deal they are serving up. There are daily specials practically every night. If you are near the South Broadway neighborhood stop in for a bite. Don’t forget to taste some of the ice cream from their sister creamery next door!
