The South Broadway neighborhood host a number of dope eateries and cool bars. There are definitely some underrated restaurants in this area. Gozo is a gorgeous food destination serving up some savory Italian cuisine. The dining space is bright and open. The bar area is buzzing as bartenders serve up some creative handcrafted cocktails. It is also a prime people-watching location! And the food is on point as well. On our menu were:
Gozo Platter: Daily selection of cured meats & cheeses, olives, rosemary-apple marmalade, grilled bread
Brussel Salad: Raw sprouts, chopped egg, pecorino, Marcona almonds
Roasted Beets: Chiogga & gold beets, gorgonzola, pistachio, arugula, citrus
Roasted Chicken: Free-range thigh and leg confit, house-made pappardelle, roasted mushrooms, baby spinach
Beat By J: Tequila Blanco, Beet-Ginger Puree, Rosemary-Chili Syrup, Genepy, Lime
Sage Sour: Rye Whiskey, Lemon, Sage, Montepulciano Float
Put A Bird On It: Cranberry-Lavender Kombucha, Mobb Mtn. Vodka, Ginger, Cucumber
Cocktails are a must at Gozo! They have a unique creative flair. Many of the ingredients are concocted in-house. The cocktails paired perfectly with the menu selections. The standout dishes were the Gozo Platter and the Roasted Chicken. I’m a sucker for a stunning charcuterie board! There were both sweet and savory elements to this dish. The roasted chicken thigh was cooked to perfection. The pasta was prepared with care. The only addition I would make is adding cheese. The extra bit a salt went a long way to really make this dish pop!
Gozo is the type of place that serves amazing food on a consistent basis. The menu changes seasonally. Sourcing fresh quality ingredients are a top priority for this team. The most impressive part of the dining experience was that there was a sense of simplicity with each dish. Each ingredient spoke for itself. There were no instances in which one distinctive flavor overpowered the other. That continued from plate to plate. It was a winning combination.
